The Coalition to
Ban Virginity Testing and Hymenoplasty

MEWSo, IKWRO, Karma Nirvana, and the Royal Colleges of Midwives and Obstetricians & Gynaecologists were all represented at the SMK National Campaigner Awards.

The group, known as the Coalition to Ban Virginity Testing & Hymenoplasty, won the Best Coalition or Collaboration Award.

Halaleh Taheri, MEWSo's Executive Director, said: "We're really thrilled to have won this award. We have all worked so very hard to stop these harmful practices against women and girls and now it is enshrined in British law.

"What is important now is that we educate the community, professionals, and young girls and boys to make this law effective."
