Thelma Foulds

Treasurer of the Board of Trustees

Her Story

Thelma was born in Zambia and grew up in both London and Zambia. She completed her studies in Australia where she lived for 18years.

She has over 16 years Project Management experience delivering world-class projects for BHP Billiton, Rio Tinto, SNC-Lavalin and Fortescue Metals Group (FMG) in Western Australian. Early in her career she successfully toll-gated RGP5 - $5 Billion project to be implemented in 2008.

Thelma’s career is the epitome of evolving and identifying potential for growth.

She has a Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting and Banking, however, her passion is driving change and pioneering new ways of working. She is a MAPM,  MSP and Prince-2-Practitioner, and her move to manage and develop Project Management Offices and successful delivery, was recognised when she was nominated in 2020 for a Women in Technology (WITWA) award and voted by the public in the Top 5 in the state of Western Australia.

As an advocate for more women in this historically male-dominated industry and STEM this was a great honour for her, breaking down the barriers and stigma of ethnic minority women in senior management roles.

She is passionate about her African roots and the role of the matriarch in her own up-bringing and she feels strongly in giving  women the courage to grow and ‘make lemonade out of lemons’. She feels MEWSo is extremely important in empowering ethnic minority women and communities who are even more at risk.
